Our approach

The Virgosol managed services model means all or part of your software quality processes are run by Virgosol teams. From test planning through execution, and from reporting through continuous improvement, the responsibility for the operation sits with us. Your software teams are freed from the testing load while the quality standard is held to international methodologies.

Building a quality operation and running one are different jobs. Assembling a team, choosing tools and writing the standard are done once. Executing the tests on every release, interpreting the results and keeping the process current is continuous. Most organisations can do the first; far fewer can sustain the second. Our managed services model takes on that continuity.

Our central expert team is made up of more than 150 senior engineers, and the work we carry out across four R&D locations brings current test methodologies into the field. Because we work in regulated sectors, our processes are designed to be audit-ready: every test step is traceable and every decision is recorded.

What do managed services include?

From test execution through performance and security, the whole quality operation is brought into one operating structure.

How do we work?

We plan around your release rhythm, manage the operation and improve it in every cycle.

Planning

We define scope, test levels and success criteria against your release calendar. Environment and test data requirements are resolved before the work begins.

Management

We take on team, tool and environment management. Progress is reported regularly against defined KPIs.

Execution

We run the tests and prioritise the findings. We track closure together with your development teams.

Improvement

At the end of every cycle we review scope, automation rate and escaped defect rate. The priorities for the next cycle are set from that review.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between managed services and outsourcing?

In an outsourcing model a team is provided and management stays with you. In managed services the whole operation is our responsibility and you receive the results and the reports. We run the quality standard, the process management and the continuous improvement.

Do we have to hand over all of our quality processes?

No. We define scope together. Some organisations hand over only regression testing or only performance testing; others hand over the entire operation.

What happens to our existing test team?

Managed services do not have to replace the existing team. In most organisations the team is freed from repeated execution and turns to exploratory testing, risk analysis and quality decisions on the product side. We define the split in scope together at the start of the engagement.

Which tools do you work with?

We can work with your existing tool set or run the operation with our own products. The tool decision is determined by your current structure and your target scope.

How does reporting work?

We provide a periodic quality report covering scope, execution results, open findings and trend indicators. Reporting frequency and content are set against your release rhythm.

What do we keep if we end the service?

The automation suite, the test cases, the process definitions and all test records belong to you. We hand them over with their documentation during the transition.
